心情不好?  壓力大?  如何紓緩鬱卒的情緒?

retail therapy 

Definition: The act of shopping as an outlet for frustration and a reliever of stress.  用血拼紓壓減輕挫折感

Example 1:  Candance went to the mall for a little retail therapy the day after Shane dumped her.  被 Shane 給甩了後, Candance 隔天去購物商場血拼聊以慰藉。

Example 2: Jenny's retail therapy session went very well.  She bought six pairs of shoes with her husband's credit card.  Jenny 的購物治療療程效果極好, 她用老公的卡買了六雙鞋。

retail 是零售的意思, 零售商就是 retailer(s), 指的是一般的商店。 我們購物當然都是去 retailers 那裏。

Therapy 是治療的意思。聰明的你一定知道, retail therapy 不過是購物狂發明的血拼藉口, 並沒有治療的效果, 頂多暫時轉移注意力, 不去想那些惱人的事情。  會用 therapy 這個字是因為美國人(有錢的美國人)愛看心理醫生, 看心理醫生算是一種 therapy (治療), 大家一定在好萊塢電影裡常看到。
