這兩個字對兩性關係非常重要, 常常在電影電視裡出現, 日常生活中更是經常用的到, 非常實用!

significant other   n.

Definition:  a person's partner in an intimate relationship without disclosing or presuming anything about his or her marital status or sexual orientation.

另一半; 不一定是先生或太太, 也可以是男女朋友, 當你不想明講你和你另一半的關係或你另一半的性別時, 這個很政治正確的字超好用的啦!

Example:

Sarah: Eric, I am throwing a Christmas party in my house on Saturday.  Would you like to come?

Eric: Sure, I'd love to!

Sarah: That's great.  You are welcome to bring your significant other to the party.
